职场英语口语：Secretary都是秘书吗？
说起办公室里的Secretary，可能我们第一反应出的意思都是秘书，不过下面这个句子要注意了：
"I chose the tall secretary where mother sat so oftenwriting letters by a sunny window."
译这句话时要格外小心，否则就会把tall secretary译成了高个子秘书，岂不闹出笑话?其实"secretary"在这里是一种书写的桌子，一般上面还附有一个小书架，所以全话的意思是：我选择了那个高大的写字桌，过去，每逢阳光明媚的日子，妈妈常坐在窗前的桌旁写信。
"Secretary"的意思还是很多的'，除了常见的“秘书”之外，它还是“书记”。
"the GeneralSecretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China."
中共中央总书记
"Secretary of aprovincial Party Committee.
省委书记
"书记处是"secretariat",它是"secretary"的变体。
秘书长的顺序正好和总书记倒过来，是"sec—retary—general", 如联合国秘书长是"the Secretary General of the United Nations."
可还有许多职务从中文字面看并没有“秘书”字样，但英语仍需用"Secretary "，如美国国务卿(the Secretary of State)、财政部长(the Secretary of Treasury)、教育部长(the Secretary of Education)、国防部长(the Secretary of Defense)等.
