自从20xx年英语六级进行改革之后，口语考试成了六级考试的一个部分，从官网的消息了解到，全国大学英语四六级考试的口语考试（CET—SET）将分设四级和六级两个级别，即“全国大学英语四级口语考试（CET—SET4）”和“全国大学英语六级口语考试（CET—SET6）”。
目前参加四六级口语考试的考生为CET4成绩为500分及以上或CET6成绩为425分及以上的学生。达到分数的两类考生都参加同样的口语考试，成绩分为ABCD四等。口语考试采用机考形式，两个考生为一组参加。
20xx年起，符合条件的考生将分别参加四级口语和六级口语的考试。四六级考试官网发布了新口语考试各级别试题构成和样题。
四级口语分为四部分，首先考生需要用20秒进行自我介绍，属于热身内容。然后通过45秒的准备，朗读一篇短文并用1分钟答题。考生需要回答2个与朗读的短文相关的问题。此外，考生还需要进行1分钟的`个人陈述发言。最后则是小组互动内容，由两位考生经过准备，根据设定的情景和任务进行交谈。
六级口语考试则分为3大部分。考生需要用3分钟时间自我介绍，并回答问题。然后考生经过1分钟准备，根据所给提示作时长为1。5分钟的个人发言，两位考生还就指定的话题进行4。5分钟的讨论。最后由考官进一步提问，回答问题。
